Who would have thought the top player in the basketball team would face a simple trouble such as finding a present for his girlfriend’s birthday? Well, he does.
Date: March 2 / Location: Lucas’s house
“Damn! Why can’t I think of a good present for her?” Lucas yelled in frustration. Behind him are Jason and Chloe exchanging looks of amusement.
The problem started due to three facts:
-Xiang Ni’s birthday is coming.
-Chloe’s brilliant idea to have a small party consisting of Lucas, Xiang Ni, Jason and, of course, herself. This is because all the other basketball players are not available that day.
-The fact that Chloe told Lucas this at the last moment.
“A sketchbook might be nice,” Jason suggested. He is very, very amused at his best friend’s problem.
“But that is so plain!” Lucas whined, putting both of his hands on his head and trying to think of a better idea.
“What about a ring,” Chloe smiled mischievously. Lucas and Jason stared at Chloe.
"Chloe, doesn’t mean that I confessed to her last month I have to proposed to her this month,” Lucas answered after a minute of silence.
“Really?” Chloe raised an eyebrow, “And I thought you would love to get in bed with her.”
Lucas blushed but didn’t say anything against that sentence. “Besides, it would be sweet,” Chloe added, linking her arms around Jason's.
Jason didn’t object. He and Chloe has been officially a couple over a month, as he confessed the same time Lucas did. Much to Colin’s displeasure.
“I think I will find a present I thought myself,” Lucas replied, obviously tired and finally noticed that his friends are not going to help him reach anywhere.
Date: March 3 / Location: Xiang Ni’s house.
“Happy Birthday!” Chloe said, as she pulled Xiang Ni to the living room of her own house after -(cough)- ambushing -(cough)- her.
Xiang Ni look around her living room in wonder. She left her house at 3pm and came back at 6pm to find her house been decorated.
The party went on smoothly. After blowing the candles on the cake (Lucas accidentally burnt himself taking the candle out.) It is time for the presents.
“Here,” Chloe said, holding out her present for Xiang Ni
“Thanks Chloe,” Xiang Ni said.
“Here is mine, Happy Birthday,” Jason said, handing his. “Thank you,” Xiang Ni replied.
As Lucas stepped forward for his, Chloe snatched Jason and hid behind a wall. “Let me guess, it has something to go with the line “blackmailing Lucas” isn’t it?” Jason groaned.
“You are such a good boyfriend,” Chloe winked at him, indicating a yes. Then she turned back at the scene. Jason blushed and kept quiet.
“Here XN, Happy Birthday,” Lucas said, handing Xiang Ni a small box. His face can compete with a ripe tomato.
Xiang Ni’s eyes sparkled before receiving the present. “Thanks Luc,” she said.
“Open it,” Lucas urged her. Xiang Ni give him a confused look before opening the small box.
Whatever in the box made her gasped. Inside was a beautiful diamond ring in the shape of a heart.
“Umm, would you, umm you know,” Lucas struggled getting the words out. He looked away, blushing so hard that even he would have won in a competition against the ripest tomato.
“But Luc, don’t you think it is slightly…” Xiang Ni trailed off, “early?”
Lucas look crestfallen. “I know, its okay,” He mumbled, looking down. Suddenly something hugged him. Lucas looked up to see Xiang Ni hugging him.
“I didn’t say no,” Xiang Ni mumbled, her face turning pink. She buried her her head to Lucas’s chest.
Lucas smiled contently. “I love you,” he said.
“Me too,” Xiang Ni sighed.
“See what I told you!” Chloe squealed. Jason stared at the scene. He knew that this might happen but not will happen. “How did you guess?” Jason asked his girlfriend in awe.
“Women institution,” Chloe answered cheekily. Jason sighed.
